What to Expect

We understand that attending church for the first time or visiting a new church can be a daunting experience. Many questions may be racing through your mind about what to expect and what will happen when you visit us as our guest at the Church of God of Exeter. We hope that the information on our site helps you find the answers and comfort you are looking for. First, do not worry, you will not be singled out or put on the spot as our guest. Instead, you will be welcomed as part of the family.

If you are looking to find more about who we are you can click HERE.  You can also find more about what we believe HERE.

DRESS

There is NO DRESS CODE at Church of God of Exeter. Most people are dressed very casually. No matter what you wear, you shouldn’t feel out of place. You will find people wearing everything from gym shorts to ties!  We believe God calls us to come as we are.  Therefore, we strive to create an environment that enables people to do just that.

PARKING

There are ample parking spaces available on and near the church property. Special needs and guest parking are also available.  All you need to do is look for the designated spot as you enter the main parking area, located on the front and side of the church.  If you need assistance getting in or out of your vehicle, please pull up to the main entrance, and a member of our host team will be happy to assist you.

WHAT ABOUT MY CHILDREN

We are firm believers in intergenerational worship, where children witness their parents and other adults participating in worship of Jesus, and are encouraged to join in this worship.  We encourage them to worship God in their unique way, and we have flags, ribbons, and even invite them to dance and sing loudly as we praise the Lord.  There are also various places where we have our children serve throughout the Sunday service, as well as multiple activities we provide for them to do while seated.

We also offer a Junior Church program for children in grades four and under during our time to hear and respond to a message from the Word of God.  This offers our youngest an opportunity and a place for them to listen to the same message given to older kids and adults, tailored to their level of understanding.

Finally, we have a fully equipped nursery space for families with infants and toddlers, staffed by trained individuals to care for your young ones.  Additionally, we offer a nursing mother’s space and a cry room.  However, we always encourage all our kiddos to be with us whenever possible so they can grow alongside us in our understanding of our worship to the Lord.

COFFEE AND TEA

For those who enjoy a nice cup of coffee or tea in the morning, we have you covered.  Be sure to stop by our coffee bar for your favorite hot beverage and some fellowship, all complimentary.  If you need help finding it, one of our hosts can certainly point you in the right direction.

Additionally, during our service, we believe that fellowship is an integral part of our worship. We have an extended greeting time, during which a special homemade treat is served complimentary along with coffee and tea, before we begin our time to hear and respond to a message from God’s Word.

MUSIC

At the heart of the worship/music ministry at Church of God of Exeter is the desire for God to be glorified in the singing of His people. With songs that are both rich in music and biblical truth, every song set is crafted with the hope of seeing the church engage in heartfelt and thoughtful worship. On any given Sunday, you can expect to see our worship team leading the church in songs that will stir up your affections for Christ and His Gospel!

THE REST OF SUNDAY CELEBRATION

Our service will begin with a few announcements about important information we would like everyone to be aware of.  Then we have our call to worship and will sing praises to the Lord.  We also celebrate communion, baptism, and child dedication on select Sundays throughout the year.  We have a time of prayer, during which we pray over any requests individuals provide.  After this, we then have our time of fellowship and greeting.  Then we seek to hear and respond to a message from the Word of God.  If you would like to hear one of our previous sermons, make sure to check out our messages page HERE.  You can also watch our service live streams from previous months HERE.

JESUS IS THE SUBJECT

In all of this, it is also important to note that here at the Church of God of Exeter, Jesus is the subject. To find more about what we mean by this and discover who Jesus is, click HERE.
