Do Not Do to One Another
Today we are continuing and finishing a journey we began many weeks ago to discover the family rules of life and ethos’ there are in the family of God, and as we have addressed every week, these are simply a set of practices, relational rhythms, lived out as individuals and with one another day-to-day; customs, characteristics, or defining marks. Particularly, something that makes someone who they are and shows whose they are. Who they belong. Giving family identity.
In this, we have been discussing how God has made this new and better way of life abundantly clear. Especially in regards to how we would righteously relate, which for something to be righteous means for it to be right, therefore that we would relate rightly with one another. The Bible makes this clear with the use of a Greek word, ἀλλήλων translated into a two-word English phrase, “One Another.” As we have stated, every week of this series is a phrase used 100 times, in 94 verses, and associated with nearly 59 commands, family rules of life, family ethos’ we are called to live out with one another.
We have been able to over the past three weeks to cover a good majority of these commands all related to three key rules of life and ethos’ God has called us, His children, to live out as brothers and sisters in His Holy set-apart family. Today we are going to continue by looking to what remains. The negative commands. The commands that teach us what not to do.
