Fasting ~ What & Why?

Today, we begin to explore the third discipline of our series, covering spiritual discipline. This is the discipline of fasting. We will examine what fasting is and why we would want to practice it by debunking various myths about it. We will emphasize the importance of spiritual disciplines, highlighting that they are essential for deepening our relationship with Jesus and fostering transformation in our lives. Something we find in the principle of sowing and reaping and urging us to reflect on what we are planting in their spiritual lives, as genuine change comes from God, not from the disciplines themselves—clarifying the purpose of fasting as a means to draw closer to God and align our hearts with His will, rather than a method of gaining favor or spiritual power. Concluding by encouraging a humble approach to fasting, suggesting that individuals start small and seek to understand the true essence of this discipline as a practice rooted in the desire for a deeper connection with Christ.
