Journey to the Cross ~ Do We Pick & Choose?
This sermon, part of our series “Journey to the Cross,” reflects on Jesus’ path to crucifixion in Luke. It stresses the disciples’ struggle to grasp His true identity and will show us how no one is beyond redemption. We will be challenged to welcome all onto the road with Jesus and not to judge others’ worthiness because, ultimately, Jesus has the authority of who walks the road with Him, and our role is to extend His invitation to all who would hear, so they like us could seek to join Him.

Take the sermon further with friends and family with these discussion questions.
1- How can the titles ‘Son of Man’ and ‘Son of David’ help us better understand Jesus’ identity as the Messiah?
– Application: Why do you think these titles are important for us to understand, and how can they shape our relationship with Jesus as we follow Him on the road?
2- According to the sermon, what is our role as Christians in determining who gets to follow Jesus?
– Application: How can you practically live out this role in your daily life and what opportunities have you had or missed to share the Gospel with others?
3- In the story of Bartimaeus, what can we learn about persistence in faith and seeking Jesus?
– Application: How can you apply the lesson of persistence in your own faith journey and what obstacles have you faced or are facing in seeking Jesus?
4- Why did the disciples struggle to understand the significance of Jesus being the Messiah, even though they knew who He was?
– Application: Can you think of times in your life when you have struggled to understand the significance of Jesus in your life? How did that affect your faith?
5- After everything we have learned from Luke this Lenten season. What does it mean to be on the road with Jesus?
