The Peculiar Kingdom of God & its People ~ Anger & Murder

In today’s message, we continue taking our time this year to dive deeply and learn from what is claimed by many as the greatest moment of teaching in the Bible that is given directly to us from Jesus to those who would desire to be His disciples, who would desire to follow His way. Those who would desire to be His people and be part of His Kingdom.  The Sermon on the Mount.

As we began last week into the second section of this sermon of sermons found in the Gospel of Matthew’s fifth chapter verses 17 through 48. We will continue with where we left off looking at the several statements Jesus makes regarding His Kingdom and its people’s ethics and rules of life regarding their relationships with one another and others, as it is like we have discussed since the beginning of this series in the very opening comments of the sermon in verses three through 12, that it is not only very different than that of this world but radically different, and here we see this like we did last week when we looked at this section as a whole. The radical nature in which Jesus has called us to relate to and with one another and others.  Today we zoom into one of the six ethical commands given to us by Jesus regarding anger and murder.

SERMON REFLECTIONS

Memorize Matthew 5:21-22

KNOW

To the standard of the Bible, we are all murderers.  The whole lot of us and we need to repent and take practical steps to live in a better way.  The way of Jesus.

CHALLENGE

Did Jesus have something to say to me today?

What was it?

What am I going to do about it?
