The Spiritual Disciplines ~ How to Study?

Today’s message will emphasize the importance of studying the Word of God as a spiritual discipline that cultivates a deeper relationship with Christ. It will explain that true study goes beyond mere reading and involves abiding in the Word and allowing it to transform our lives. Using the metaphor of vines and branches from John 15, it will illustrate that abiding in Christ is essential for spiritual fruitfulness, and we must commit fully rather than just dipping our toes in. The message will encourage practical steps for studying the Bible, such as using resources like Lectio Divina and S.O.A.P., and emphasize the necessity of preparation, intentionality, and integrating other spiritual habits to enhance this discipline. Ultimately, all study begins when we simply do it, and if we never step out to do it, the discipline of study will always remain far from us.
